Alexandra founded her florist shop Otok, after moving to Devon from Croatia. Her passion for local, seasonal, and sustainable flowers is matched by a deep appreciation for the ecological systems that support them.

Alexandra is championing the marmalade hoverfly, an important pollinator and super-efficient natural pest controller whose larvae are voracious aphid-eaters.

Astonishingly, these tiny insects migrate long distances, over seas and mountain ranges and are part of the buzzing tapestry of life in Croatia too - beautifully connecting the places Alexandra calls home.
