Suzie and Jonathan take pleasure every day from the rich tapestry of habitats that surround their Devon home and business. The care they give to this land and the wildlife that thrives here reflects their understanding and respect for nature.

They take particular delight in the variety of vibrant butterflies that visit their beautiful meadow and gardens at Riversbridge and, employing their love of gardening, have chosen to support these vital insects.

By growing a wide variety of nectar-rich flowers that bloom throughout the year Suzie and Jonathan provide essential food for butterflies across their flying season. Choosing to leave areas of grass and hedgerow uncut encourages the native plants that caterpillars rely on too. This flourishing landscape supports both resident and migrant species — from hardy butterflies such as Brimstones that can survive the icy winter to Painted Ladies that journey thousands of miles to reach our shores.

Butterflies bring colour, joy, and life to the landscape, but they are also crucial pollinators and a vital part of the food web, supporting birds, bats and mammals. Suzie and Jonathan’s efforts reflect their deep respect for the natural world and their commitment to creating a thriving haven for all wildlife at Riversbridge.
